Formed in the spring of 1996 by three friends at the University of South Carolina, Silers Bald has become one of the Southeast’s most popular independent bands. Silers Bald got started at the University of South Carolina's Fellowship of Christian Athletes, who formed a dedicated fan base. "We really weren't very good, but God blessed us with these loyal friends." Encouraged, Silers Bald started writing their own music and as they found it ministering to others, knew this was what God wanted them to be doing. The group, which has expanded to six members, has completed
a CD with two singles on it as well as their first full length CD. Still in their 20s, the members of Silers Bald easily relate to the many college students they meet on the road, who often are away from home for the first time and are frequently probing their values and standards. Silers Bald knows that it is only through God's grace that they are able to impart any words or songs of wisdom to college students or anyone else. "We want to convey the message of grace in any way, shape or form."
