Jacobstone's emotive presence, as well as timeless, gripping music, has led critics and fans to declare that they will be positioned at the forefront of this decade's most influential music. Although the band has existed in different forms since 1996, In Summer 2000 the current lineup joined forces astonishing audiences with their distinctive sound and passion. Chris and AJ grew up together. The young musicians' friendship evolved over time. AJ saw Chris playing drums at a party and brought him to practice the next week. Chris and AJ both realized their similar influences and over the course of the next year and began playing shows together. The summer of 1996 sparked the beginning of their creative cycle. Their song writing abilities started
surfacing, writing prolifically. Jacobstone is literally a double metaphor for human beings and the intangible things in this world, such as a dream or melody. Jacobstone released their full length debut CD, Glass Top Ships in 1999 to critical acclaim. After one particular rehearsal in 2000, the five current members of Jacobstone realized everything that had been missing from the music they had created apart from each other. After their buzz generating performance at Cornerstone Festival 2001, Jacobstone started to receive national recognition for their ambient experimentation and strong melodies. Known for their catchy choruses, multiple textures and darker moods, Jacobstone has brought forth a more honest approach lyrically with Regions. Fully communicating with their audiences, Jacobstone is discovering how their form of art and their spirituality can coincide and move others.
