Husband & wife team Don &
Lori Chaffer first collaborated in 1990, leading to the
band Hey Ruth. After Don formed Waterdeep in 1995,
Lori joined a year later. With a strong following in the
midwest and several outstanding independent releases,
Steve Taylor signed Waterdeep to Squint Entertainment
early this year. Their '70's art-rock influenced rootsy
contemporary folk sound is new to young audiences and
nostalgic for the rest of us. Waterdeep takes the
listener deep into a dreamworld of meditative lyrics and
joyful sounds, particularly in jam-filled marathon live
performances that are legendary among their strong core
following. Their 2-1/2 hour midnight set at Cornerstone
premiered a new song and showcased the breadth of their
talents from jams to ballads to powerful, moving worship.
