A pioneering artist, Larry Norman’s recorded resume goes all the way back to 1967 with the San Francisco-area band People, who scored a Top 20 pop hit in 1968. Larry left the band immediately to start a long and somewhat controversial solo career. Though not necessarily the first rock artist to combine lyrics of faith with music of the youth, Norman was by far the most iconoclastic “Jesus Music” ministry. His simple but transforming songs became anthems of the Jesus Movement that rocked the counterculture and the church around the world in the late sixties and early seventies. Norman’s music, and message, were hugely influential from the beginning. To this day many artists cite him as a major inspiration. Always outspoken and never quite accepted by either the Christian music industry or the mainstream, Larry made an indelible mark, both through his own music and the artists he's worked with such as Daniel Amos, Mark Heard, Tom Howard and Randy Stonehill. Norman has appeared numerous times at Cornerstone but it's been over a decade since he's had a slot on the Mainstage. With two different full bands backing him up on combined half hour sets, it was a fitting homecoming for one of the true legends and founding fathers of the Christian Rock genre.
