One of Memphis' hottest up and coming young bands, Retrospect's outstanding technique and abounding energy made them a surprise feature of Larry Howard's Blues Buffet. With a fiery modern blues rock style that also shows an appreciation for traditional roots music, Retrospect became an instant crowd favorite, filling the tent as they introduced their original songs to a rapt new audience.

Josh Caterer formed The Smoking Popes (named after a terrible chain smoking habit) in 1990. Building a loyal following and landing opening slots for national bands, they soon found themselves headlining at Chicago's premier rock venues. After two independent CD's they signed with Capitol Records, releasing three CDs to critical acclaim. With heart-on-sleeve love songs, the Smoking Popes always seemed a shade more wholesome than their punk-pop peers. Turns out that was just the tip of the iceberg: front man Josh Caterer has left the band to devote his time and talent to Jesus. "It sounds like a cliche, but I had everything I wanted but still felt empty, after a while that led me to a point where I began to seek God... I'll basically continue to write pop songs, but they're all going to be about the gospel." Josh Caterer has already released an EP of solo acoustic versions of traditional gospel songs and is currently working on his next project recording with a full band.
