Athens, Georgia, is home to more than one very talented musical group... Some receive the appreciation they deserve, some do not. The Vigilantes have struggled since their inception to bring their art to the audience it deserves. Songwriter Bill Mallonee brings us thoughtful, straightforward, and challenging lyrics, coupled with the rootsy musical style that has always been the VOL trademark. Vigilantes of Love have always opted for a heart-on-the-sleeve approach. From the early days of the Athens, GA scene, live performances have always been characterised by intimacy, a love for rock and roll, and a passionate conviction. Incorporating equal parts of loose garage band sensibility with passionate lyrics mined from the vein of Americana, they explore the big themes of personal brokenness, faith, doubt and redemption. Michelle Thompson (The Wayside) joined VOL for yet another memorable Cornerstone performance. After the show the audience was treated to a "Summershine" CD listening party prior to the official release of the CD.
