Third Day * Main Stage * July 7th
Third Day hit the scene in 1995 and was the first band signed to the now defunct Graydot label. The critics raved and Third Day was a hit with their soulful vocals and uncompromisingly honest songwriting landing opening slots for established CCM artists. By 1996, Third Day was constantly touring, and sought after by major Christian labels eventually signing with Reunion. Boasting a musical pulse and lyrical depth above and beyond what you've come to expect from CCM these days, Third Day has become one of CCM's major acts. This Marietta, Georgia-based band's sound and direction is musically diverse, consistently impressive and completely satisfying. Their intelligent, appealing and engaging songs that occasionally transcend - and frequently send shivers. "Music has always been a spiritual thing... It's not the spiritual thing that's new - it's just that people have actually begun paying attention to it and are finally ready to hear it in their music again." With their highly sucessful worship record "Offerings", Third Day has helped bring worship music from the obscure to the Christian mainstream. Back for a second straight year at Main Stage, Third Day featured their trademark rich, reflective vocals and crunched-out riffs with subtle slabs of grunge, country and pop. Lifting up the crowd in worship with harmonies and deceptively gorgeous melodies that never cloud the wonder, innocence and outright joy of our relationship with God. |
