Earthsuit * Main Stage * July 7th
Most artists would like to believe that their music can't really be described. Only on occassion do you run across a band that's truly impossible to categorize musically. When you finally hear Earthsuit, you'll understand. "When we play for a first-time audience, their usual reaction is an open mouth... We love to catch people's attention, and we love to catch them off guard. Earthsuit has a strong rock undercurrent, a little reggae flavor, certain jazz progressions, patches of rap, and some of the New Orleans influence mixed in complimented by samples and programming. Lyrically, Earthsuit seems drawn by force of gravity toward the center of that intersection where spirituality, hunger, and rock n' roll collide. "We're all searching for something real and tangible from this existence. All of us are familiar with that search, and our songs tend to reflect that tension of trying to pursue and apprehend something greater than ourselves." This was Earthsuit's first Cornerstone creating quite a buzz regarding their Main Stage performance. "When we're onstage," Paul says, "We always try to give everything that we have inside of us to give. We believe the people who come to see us deserve all the energy, passion, and musical excellence we can muster." |
