The Urban Hillbilly Quartet began in 1995 at a jam session in a hole-in-the-wall St. Paul bar. This Twin Cities-based ensemble has grown to a well respected band with four records and a loyal following throughout the Midwest. UHQ delivers an eclectic mix of musical styles, blending fiddle, electric guitar, accordion and bass with a wide assortment of musical toys. Recently honored by the Minnesota Music Awards, the Hillbillies present their hybrid genre with style, attitude and conviction, delivering their passionate original sound to an ever growing audience. In concert, UHQ drifts between country, bluegrass, and rock with equal adeptness - hard enough to please punkers, twangy enough to thrill alt-country types.
